You should update iOS 18.1.1 on your iPhone right now.

Less than a month following the tech giant’s iOS 18.1 release, Apple launched iOS 18.1.1 in November. Although many iPhones gained some new capabilities with that update, such as the ability to record calls, iOS 18.1.1 brings some significant security updates to your iPhone that Apple claims may be actively abused. The business advises everyone to download the update right now as a result.

Navigate to Settings > General > Software Update, choose Update Now, and then follow the on-screen instructions to download the update.

Apple claims that the update fixes two security flaws. JavaScriptCore, the framework that enables JavaScript code to execute on your iPhone, is one problem. According to a post on Apple Support,

Apple said that arbitrary code execution might result from engaging with maliciously designed online content. A third party may carry out orders on your device via arbitrary code execution, claims Okta, an IT services provider.

The second problem is with WebKit, the internet browser engine that Apple created internally and uses in Safari. A cross-site scripting attack might result from interacting with maliciously generated online content, according to Apple. A third party may be able to access cookies, session tokens, and other private data saved on your browser as a result of this kind of attack, according to the nonprofit cybersecurity organization OWASP Foundation.

According to Apple, Google’s Threat Analysis Group researchers revealed both problems. According to the organization, it strives to shield its members from misinformation and hacking that is supported by the government. Apple did not, however, provide any further information on the iOS flaws that Google’s researchers discovered.
